Location: Carle Place, NY | I've been using .011 Custom Light strings for many years. I just put a set of .014-.059 EJ18 D'Addario strings on my 1537 Elite. I tuned the guitar down a full step (DGCFAD). I was very surprised with the results. It's not too hard on the fingers. The volume and clarity are outstanding even with a capo. Many O fans here have multiple acoustic guitars, so I recommend giving it a try. Bonus-you can play Yesterday the way Paul played it. |

Location: Jet City | Or you could do it the right way and pick up a longneck. Those specific strings and that tuning are what Ovation recommends. I personally tune it down another step and a half to B |
