| Happened upon this site and decided since I've had a couple Ovations and been an owner since the early 90's, Why not join up.
I have a few guitars. Aside from my very first electric which is a Yamaha, all of my other electrics are Fenders. I also have a London reverb and a Twin reverb.
Aside from borrowing my mothers huge Gibson back in the early 90's, I've only ever played Ovations. I started with the old Aluminium neck Celeb. It was a great starter guitar and frustrated the hell out of my mother because the raw unamplified sound from it could drown her huge Gibson completely out with no effort at all.
When I felt it was time to move up I traded my Celeb in from a brand new, off the shelf, Cream-due-la-Cream 1868C Elite. Many have commented on the clerity and smoothness of the sound, The only gripe I've had is that I've not been able to use it though my amps because the cable connector components suck causing the sound to cut in and out throughout a song. Other then that I get nothing but complements about it.
These days I'm thinking of a 12. I had been kind of stucko n the Adamas because of my great luck with the Celeb and my Elite but I've been warned the Adamas are not the same so I'm on the fence on that.

Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Welcome Johnny, and don't worry. There's not a thing wrong with ANY Adamas 12-string. Ovation has made some of the best 12-strings on the market and the Adamas is their top of the line. As far as your pre-amp problem in your 1868, give the mods some time to approve your account and then ask about it in the GENERAL section. There is a TON of Ovation kowledge on this board, so I'm sure you'll get some tips and guidance on how to address it. An 1868 sounds fantastic plugged in! |

As for a 12, you can't go wrong with an Adamas, but since you like that 1868, you might want to tray a 1858 too. It's the 12 string version of what you have. |
