I have been perusing this board for a while and am diving in for the first time. I have been an Ovation lover for many years and bought a used Balladeer in 2003 (Model 1761). It has a beautiful deep sound when unplugged and is my baby. One of my critiques of Ovation is that some have a faded sound when not plugged in. I am contemplating replacing my balladeer in 2015 and am hoping to stay in the Ovation family if I can find an American made one. One of the ones I have been checking out online is the Legend 2077 AX Deep Contour and did not know if anyone else has any recommendations.

Thanks!

I've gotta get my spectacles prescription checked - I was sure you said 'upgrading my bladder'...

What do you mean by "a faded sound"?

I assume you know that there are a number of different bowl sizes with Ovations. The deep bowls are renowned for being acoustic powerhouses and the shallow bowls lack that bottom end, yet all of the bowl sizes sound similar plugged in. (Assuming the same preamp)

Another thing to consider with acoustic guitars is that what YOU hear is different to what your AUDIENCE hears. if you find something you think you like, ask somebody else to play something on it (in your style) to see if it's really what you think.

Welcome. Anything with AX or TX in the name is not US made, so you'll want to factor that into your calculations. Deep (or contour) bowls will give a deeper sound. Best bet is to see if you can find some to actually play to help you decide.
