Joined: December 2010 Posts: 7 Location: Alabama | I'm trying to identify the year model of my Preacher Deluxe. It's number 13915. I've seen the id charts for the acoustics, but cant seem to pinpoint the dates on the preacher deluxe. Oh, and once I realized the thing had active preamps in it and changed the batteries, wow!, it sounds incredible. thanks

For example; If you have proof of the date of another guitar with a 5-digit serial number, then you can guess yours. Since I know that my Sweet T was made in April 2008, I know that all the serial numbers near 2193xx were made before or after then. Which means that my "Brand New" 2778LX-4 is actually older than the Sweet T... It spent a long lonely time in a store room.

My Viper is from very late in the run and is E199xx ... with the highest I've ever seen of E201xx (from around 1981). I think your Preacher (E13915) is probably somewhere in the 1977-78 timeframe, but just a WAG. There's no way to tell exact month and year of manufacture with a code like some builders use. OMA, do you have sumpin' special? How does the SweetT have a 1970's number? Was it an offshore guitar? And your 2778 should be five hundred thousand something or maybe even six big ones.

My 2778LX's are both above 617700. Apparently my finger slipped on the "6". ooops  And I was saying that if his serial number had no letters... 70-72 is what it should be. But they didn't make Preachers then.

So that's gonna put mine in the '75 to '80 range. Thanks for the info, I'll stick with the '77 '78 range until I can get closer. Mine is the Preacher Deluxe, black with gold hardware. Don't know if they made those in a specific year.
