Joined: August 2006 Posts: 3145 Location: Marlton, NJ | You guys seem to know something about everything, so here goes: I'm replacing the head unit in my '06 Grand Caravan. The purpose is a) the original one sucks, b) complete iPod integration. I purchased a SONY from Crutchfields - it came with detailed instructions, wiring harnesses, etc. The physical install went without a hitch - turned it on... the little radio signal level meter is doing it's thing - but no sound at all. Thus begins my journey. It's too convoluted to explain everything I did so far - the end result is that there is an infinity amplifier in the rear near one of the speakers that apparently can't be triggered by a replacement head unit. The options are to a) bypass said amp and wire straight to the speakers or b) replace the amp. What I would like to know from the collective wisdom and experience of the group - is it true that the amp cannot be used and if it's not true - how do I do it? I've spoken to many so-called experts and went on Dodge forums and so on and received many different useless answers. Thanks!

They are only as good as the info they have at hand. They were convinced that the system was set up one way and had me searching for a connector that wasn't there. They finally sent me in a different direction - bypass the amp or replace it.

And I would certainly agree that they're only as good as the info in front of them. Wish I could help - I used to install units, amps, equalizers, speakers, etc. for friends when I was younger but it sounds like you're already beyond what I could help you with. Hope it works out for you, Mike.

I'd bet that the connector is there, but it is buried deep. I eventually found it and put the prescribed relay into the loop and all went well. (Am I helping now?) Blues

I'll get in touch when I can work on it again. Mauvais - a new car would definitely be my first choice. As you may have noticed - this is a minivan we're talking about in the first place. Can you put wheels on a 47RI? I'll be driving this one for a couple of more years and spending alot of time in it so I may as well make it as pleasant as possible. Yak - the problem is with the amp turning on.
