Anyone know how to convert a binder of marked up sheet music into files I can put on an Ipad?
I'm sure I'm not the only one wanting to get rid of that big ol nasty binder.

Do you have to scan the files? What format is best to use? And then, how do you upload them onto the Ipad?

Curious in OH

Jim

Suggest Scanning to PDF and emailing to your Ipad.
Once saved on the IPad there are a variety of apps to organize.....many discussed on the OFC recently.

Will forScore work with other than sheet music? For instance song sheets which are the lyrics and chords? I tend to mark up my song sheets with arrows and various notes about chord voicings etc.

It works with PDFs. Scan a sheet into a PDF and import it. Import a text file and it will convert it to pdf. Take a picture of it (iPad2+ and it will convert it to PDF for you.

Click the link above to see the features.

I prefer to use OnSong, as I primarily work with lead sheets instead of notation, and OnSong is OUTSTANDING for lead sheets. It will also work with PDFs, but not as well as forScore.

FWIW, I also use ForScore for PDF's of sheet music/chord charts/lyrics/etc., it works well. There are a couple of companies making Bluetooth foot pedals that you can use with ForScore for hands-free "turning" the pages of your music while playing your guitar. (That's hard to do with those old binders.)

Not necessarily true... The PageFlip Lite mechanical page turner works with conventional books.

This is the same company that makes the PageFlip Cicada that I use with OnSong.

The kind of Ipad I have is the wi-fi only model. Can I still email the song to myself?
Thanks.

Why would you need to email something to yourself? I mean, of course you can if you have wifi. But what does that have to do with the topic?

Now that does indeed appear to be a very interesting question!.. Although there are folks who enjoy receiving mail and can only do so if they send it to themselves. I speak as one afflicted by this very disorder!! Nothing makes me happier than to receive a most tender and affectionate email from myself!!

And I have further knowledge that Dave Kell also enjoys this aforementioned phenomenon!!

The "email to myself" came as a suggestion from kent rookie as a simple way to get scanned music on my IPad. Plus it makes me feel someone loves me.....me!

Uh, huh....

You can use itunes to transfer pdf or text files to either Onsong or forScore. But you can still send yourself emails if it makes you feel special.
