Location: Cork, Ireland | Apart from Seesquares amp in a case, does anyone else know about amp building? I've built a mini amp based on one of these kits http://www.vellemanusa.com/products/view/?country=us&lang=enu&id=35... but am looking for some help on modifying it.

How do you want to change it? |

Location: Caribou, ME | My Bucket List has one amp-related item. I would like to build a small amp from scratch. I don't mean design it of course, as I no nothing about amp design. At the same time I don't really want to build a "kit". I would like to take a schematic and a bill of materials and go from there. I would like to make the cabinet myself and even the chassis, making it out of sheet metal or aluminum. Kinda to get the whole "Doc Kauffman/Leo Fender making amps and lap steels in the kitchen in 1945" vibe.
I realize buying each piece will be a lot more expensive and making the chassis/cabinet leaves it wide open to my crappy sheet metal and carpenter skills, but I'd like to do it regardless. Just to say I did it (bucket list remember). There must be a design out there for a basic amp. |

Location: NW Washington State | If I were going to build a tube amp from scratch, I think I'd start with a prepunched and lettered chassis: http://angela.com/chromeplatedchassisforfenderstyle5f1tweedchamp.as...
I mostly mess around with old PA amps- old guitar amps are too valuable. Sometimes I improve them, sometimes I destroy them!

Location: Tennessee | My brother-in-law is a very talented amp builder ... I could connect you if you want to talk. All tube stuff, with point to point wiring and such. Aris builds amps from scratch, and also repairs and restores old original tube amps, oftentimes for some pretty well-known players. Aris is also a very talented guitarist. www.arisamplification.com. |
