| Hey, new to forum... Just sold off my GC 057M, did not like the laminate top... I see Ovation is introducing a new line of Solid Top Celebrities, CS24-(1,2,3,4).... Has anyone seen or played these new models? Curious if they are an considerable upgrade over my old laminate top...
I have a couple of all wood models, Martin and Yamaha, but miss the size and playability of the Ovation Mid Depth... Also looking for a durable axe to keep at the beach, all wood not a good choice... Wanting these new ones to be a good alternative, appreciate any input if you have seen or played these new Celebrity Models...

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I don't know about the "new" models... But I have played solid top Celebrity guitars.
There have been solid top Celebrity's for a while.
On the older Celebrity's (pre-Fender)... The ones that begin with CSE and CDX are solid top.
Also, if there is an "S" at the end of the number it is a solid top. (CC44 vs CC44S)
I have a CC92S-4C (post-Fender) which has a solid Cedar top that is nice.
Otherwise, these would be of the same quality as other Celebrity's but with a Solid Top.
I am guessing, since they are revamping the Celebrity line they might be changing a lot of things.
If you cannot buy yours in person, be sure that you buy from an online store with a good return policy.

Location: NJ | yes I have played them they are made at a new factory.
the guitars sound great and play well right out of the box which was something that was hit or miss for a while.

| Thanks for the input... Per the new website, they claim a new bracing pattern in addition to the solid tops... Dissappointing that no one in my area stocks these any more.... Here he is hoping Fender gets Ovation back on its feet and into some real distribution... Meanwhile, any further feedback on the new models is appreciated! BTW, I made a mistake on the my first posting, Models are CS24-1, -4, and -5 and -RR... |
