Joined: October 2005 Posts: 5330 Location: Cicero, NY | Incredible. A very warm and tasteful tone. Not overly bright and nowhere near muddy but certainly one of the "woodier" Ovations produced. Why they never did more of this model I'll never know. Obviously tone is highly subjective but the FUD is one of my favorites. Do a search. One of Ovations best. | ||

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12755 Location: Boise, Idaho | Weaser pretty much nailed it. I had my new to me Folklore when I played one of these for the first time and it sounded much more like a wood backed guitar. Not as crisp and bright as most Ovations, but very warm and woody. | ||

Joined: August 2002 Posts: 8307 Location: Tennessee | It's a cedar top, 12 fret guitar with a 1.75" nut width. A fingerpicker's delight. That's what accounts for the tone as described above. It's absolutely killer if this is your style. On the other hand, my experience with the guitar also reveals that if you flat pick and drive your guitars hard, this one is not the guitar for you. | ||

I wouldn't think you be looking for a small bodied, cedar topped guit if you were a driver. I wouldn't buy a 2080, a premier Adamas in it's own right, if I was looking for a subtle James Taylor type sound either. That's why we all need one of everything. | ||
