But only during the football season. Soon after that, The Pittsburgh Steeler's resident viking, Brett Keisel, shaves his ridiculously epic whiskers for Pittsburgh Children's Hospital at an event called SHEAR THE BEARD. In the last four years, this event has raised thousands upon thousands of dollars for the cause.
Why post it here?
Well, it turns out Keisel is learning to play guitar. As a tribute to the kids, he picks up an Ovation Legend and strums his way through "Ring of Fire" in honor of the fire the kids face every day.
Now he's a beginner, but he acquits himself well enough. It's the crowd that starts to sing with him that makes the video. For folks like us though, the striking thing is that he makes the guitar look...well...tiny! The guy is HUGE! Honestly, I dunno where he found a guitar strap that long! Look at the size of it when he takes the guitar off.
Anyway, Steeler fan or not, this is a good man doing good things. And he apparently likes Ovations to boot! What's not to love? The link below will take you to a good article about it with two imbedded videos; both of which are worth your time. SHEAR THE BEARD!

Hopefully it gets through whatever's involved. There is undoubtedly a great amount of filtering and handling between the average person and an NFL player. So we'll see. |
