I have the lovely creation known as the Jim Messina Deacon, although I would prefer to call it the "Gene Brown" Deacon since he was the lead that was asked to "make something amazing".

I went inside to chase a rattle and took some pictures. I put some pics in the "JM Deacon" folder in my Album.

See if you can guess the secret!

Is that a "lifesaver" in the Batt cave?

Mmmh. A rattle. That means there was some sort of open space in the guitar and something was rattling around? And you found something? Am I close?

The nut holding the bridge in place is missing? Naw, you took the bridge off.

The foam in the battery compartment is special and hasn't rotted yet?

There's an ugly, vaguely obscene pink object in the corner of the "sandwich" picture?

There's a signature in the neck pickup cavity?

The preamp is held in place only by the pots. Repeated use of the output jack can separate it from the preamp.
(this is REALLY a blind stab!)

Either that or Termites!

I know mine had a problem with the black plastic tailpiece cover. Took me a while to figure this out..... This was the main reason I took the task of carving some wood covers to replace it. With the screws into hard wood instead of the plastic melted spru's it sounds better unplugged, but I did not notice a difference plugged in. Although there must have been one, I did not play it much before I did this change/fix

What was your surprise Mike?

Okay, then what is that big round white thing in the battery compartment that looks like a lifesaver? I've never opened up a guitar like that...

The body is chambered on the bass side. Much lighter and it's the reason that the body is sandwich laminated instead of being a single piece or board glued.

It's a Deacon Semi-Hollow with a flam'in Maple neck.

Tap sonar says its holler inside!

Think 1975 VXD

So what caused the rattle in the chamber? A lucky penny?
