I am currently using a small Roland Cube 20X and miking it through our church's PA system. It has a nice variety of effects and my 83 Collector Series sounds great with a bit of delay and reverb dialed into it. Since it is miked and run through our sound system it does not need to have much power and it sounds very nice. I would like to hear what other Ovation players are using. Anybody running an Ovation through a Marshall? That would be pretty neat sounding I bet. all my best, Washington Bob

Took a Marshall 2 x 12 to the gig today, but my lead breaks still can't be heard above his dammed keyboard. One lady came out of the meeting with temporary deafness and her spectacles smashed. (She was sitting way back in the 7th row as well !) It's astonishing though, no matter how loud it is no one complains, they just smile and take it just because what we're playing is religious. They must think the louder it is, the more their sins will be admonished! If it was Hendrix, we'd have had a noise abatement order slapped on us faster than you could say `A collection plate is coming 'round!' I'm gonna keep cranking up the amp power every week until somethin' gives!

I have a Roland Micro-Cube that has been running on the same six AA batteries since I got it! (2 months) It has nice selection of effects, and I guess I could run it through something bigger. I has an Out jack. I have other small amps, but I fell in love with this one. I have an adapter, but I wanna see how long the batteries will last... I play it everyday. [also- Crate GFX-15, Hughes & Kettner Edition Blue 15-R, Ancient Pignose, coupla cheapies]

I have a little Epiphone 30W acoustic that I use just to see if the batteries still work. I tried the Crate 125D that's used at the local GC and it sounds very clean at as high as I wanted to try it. Trace Elliot used to be the benchmark for acoustic amps, but now it seems to be Genz Benz or the Rolands.

Rainier | Hey Everybody, I ran my Roland 20X direct for a couple of evenings but then the sound guy at church thought it would sound better if he miked it front and back and ran that through the board. I use the Roland as my live amp plus sound through the monitors. Miking gives it real ambiance as if that was really needed. Makes that little amp sound so great...really makes my Ovation 83 Collector Series come alive...bright, fat and full of tone. I can get a nice acoustic sound or get it to growl like a Telecaster or fat like a jazz box. A very versatile guitar for sure. Cant wait to try a newer model Ovation with all the bells and whistles. That way the sound board guy has the control he wants, and I can have as much in my monitor as I want. It has all the variety of sounds and voice control I could ever want, and I've found there are even preset channels I can use with my viper, if I want to go solid body. I'm still playing around/tweeking the new Line6 Pod XL Live I bought for the Viper, but it is also proving to be unbelievable. That Zoom A2 cost a lot less than an amp and does a LOT more. (even though I do have a few amps available that I use on for occasional road gigs and at home.

The electric guitar goes through a Toneworks PX4 digital effects/emulation box and then into the PA. Once in a long while the electric runs into a Roland Cube 30, usually through the PX4. My daughter just got a Crate Acoustic 60W and did her first performance with it today. The sound is great with her 1778T and with my 6778. Mics sound good, too. This amp is going to get a lot of use.

So I took the advice of some here and went to Guitar Center, and played their Elite T through a Roland AC-60. It sounded pretty much the same, which leads me to think that I simply may not like the sound of a plugged-in Elite T, which would be a bummer, since I love its unplugged sound. I plugged in a Seagull that was hanging above the amp, and it sounded much better to me. I think I'll see if my effects pedal, Digitech RP200, has anything that will give me a better sound. Although I don't have high hopes that adding effects will make an acoustic guitar sound "more acoustic".

For practicing in the bandroom, a Genz Pro for A/E and a Fender Bandmaster stack and '63 reverb unit for electrics. The smaller the better for hauling to gigs. The big stuff stays in the bandroom.

It sounds fine with my Koala, but was really tinny and brittle sounding with my thinline pickup equipped Adamas 1597. These days, if I'm playing at church I go straight into the board (XLR cable, no effects). If I'm playing in my band, I go into my Digitech Vocalist Live 4, and use that to apply a little reverb, then go into the board from there.
