Joined: March 2007 Posts: 843 Location: CA | I got my first 'side hole' guitar, a 1778T, about a year ago. As you know, there is a nice piece of spruce under that rhino-liner nonskid top. Well, I find a pleasant plus of this guitar (in addition to the neck and nice sound) is that you can smell the wood while playing. . . the soundholes being closer to your nose and all that. It only recently occurred to me that I only start to be aware of the smell after about 10-15 minutes of playing. Almost as though the playing 'unlocks' the smell, or probably more accurately, the vibration of the wood likely releases the pheromones. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this indeed symptomatic of the "wearing in" of the wood that happens to all guitars over time? | ||
