Also, how does this automatic tuner work. I can not seem to get it to work. Directions say turn it on and then hit a string. Did that, nothing happened. Any Ideas? Thanks, Rita

I never had this but I think I used to use extra lights on a yamaha guitar that was really easy to play because my first teacher had a one of those guitar builder people file down the white piece that the strings lay on right below the head stock and also on the bridge. Easy playing, no buzz. The battery was dead when it got here. I took the pre amp out changed the battery then it got stuck had to use a butter knife to get it out. It's an ovation op pro series.

The white piece you were talking about is the nut. You shouldn't have to sand that down. Take out the white piece at the other end, called the saddle and take out some shims. That will lower your action. It shows in the manual, if you got one with the guitar.

I think when you put the pre amp in you have to push it in to the little hole on the right and sort of roll the left side down. You can't just push it straight in.

Put on D'ad extra lights 10-47's for the first month, then put on Custome lights, 11-52 for the second month, then move up to Lights, 12-53. If that doesn't make it better, then remove a saddle shim and adjust the truss rod. It's very simple. Good luck.

As has been mentioned, pulling one or two shims from under the saddle is a pretty simple task. I'm sure they would be happy to do it for you, and probably let you watch so you could see how its done. Take your new strings with you and they can string 'em up for you in the process.

One of my friends knows a session musician/teacher in my area that worked with Celine Dion. I left a message to see who he recommends to take it to in my area. I'm scared I might mess something up with it, since I really don't know what I'm doing. Then my boyfriend will kill me, since he bought the thing for me. The fingers are actually a little better since icing them and soaking them in rubbing alcohol. I don't ever remember this happening as a child learning on a sears guitar for the 1st 6 months. But then again it was sheet music for the bottom 2 strings, easing the way up and no chords. I guess I tried to run before I could walk this time.
