| Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum and Ovation Guitars although have much admired them for about 30 years.
I have recently purchased a 2079LX Black custom legend that I just love. It is a fantastic guitar. I also have a 12 string 6756LX. The 6 string 2079LX is fitted with the OP/Pro/Studio electronics with 1/4" and XLR.
My question is regarding a PA or AMP "Hum" that I get when the 6 string 2079LX is plugged in. With no volume on the GAIN on the guitar I get an annoying hum. My 12 String is fine, just this model with the XLR. When I use the 1/4" jack and connect to a sound source I get the hum? I have tried swapping the OP/Pro from my 12 string but I still hear the humming so I am not sure if this is common or where I should start to track down the noise.
Regards,
Steve W

Welcome to the madhouse. I'm hopeless with hums, but someone will be along with a suggestion. When you get full access, checkout the "Downunder" section, as there are a few Brisbane members. |

Does the hum quit when you touch any of the grounded parts like the ring around the 1/4" socket?
Hum is usually a grounding issue. |

| Hey MWoody,
Thanks for your reply.
No, when I touch the grounded ring around the 1/4" socket it does nothing in regards to changing the Hum.
As I said even with the volume/gain knob turned to OFF the guitar has a humming noise in my amp or PA. I have tried my other acoustics with the same lead's into the same amp or PA and they are clean so I am not sure about this Ovation. I think I will take it in to have someone look at it. A bit disappointing that's all. |
