Location: Minnesota | Ok...so. Between a very long winter and an incredibly humid spring. (maybe too much humidity? I am finding that my old legend has developed a fret buzz and have noticed that the strings are too close to the frets. Buzz is more noticeable when strumming. I'm thinking the the neck needs relief so lefty loosy but do not have the proper tool to tweek the truss rod just a little. Any idea what metric allen wrench I would use for an 1983 built legend? I didnt want to remove the strings(just loosen)..truss rod access is through the sound hole. I may have to take it in for a proper set up but would rather take care of it myself. It's just hard to access. Any advice would be welcome. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | You need a 3/16" Allen Wrench.
If all you have is Metric you could try a 4.5 mm...
But it is really 4.75 mm.
I just measured my truss rod wrench with a micrometer cuz I wasn't sure.
That was a wrench that came with a 2004 issue Ovation, but I think that they are all the same.
So you need a 3/16th.

A: On 10/10/10...
The 3/16" Allen or Hex head can be found at any Hardware store and usually on Ebay.
If you haven't lost a few of these by now I would suggest getting to know your local Music Store's Tech and start a lifelong relationship.
They could use all the friends and customers they can get! |

Location: Minnesota | well...the neck of my guitar is dead flat. Found the proper gauge and tried to adjust the truss rod. Unfortunately the truss rod is frozen.
Any suggestions? I'm guessing I shouldn't use wd-40 to lubricate, though I'm tempted. |
