Anyone ever A-B'd the two?

I LOVE my '72 Folklore but I'm constantly frustrated by running out of fretboard. (Sometimes I feel like taking a sabresaw to it and giving it a cutaway... )

Are the newer ones with the cutaway still 12 fretters? (Gotta have 12 frets!)

Do the new ones still fill the room sonically - like an original does?

I was thinking of getting a luthier friend to make me one based on my original Folklore's specs and bracing, but if the newer ones tick all the boxes...

By looking at the Ovation homepage listing for the FOLKLORE
All of the cutaways are 14 Fret.
Even the Nylon Country Artist.
The Pro Nylon Classical is a cutaway with a 12 Fret neck... 1773AX
So maybe they could make you one.
(but that is Korean, so I don't know about special orders)

But as far as I can tell, all of the cutaway Folklore/Country Artist LX models are 14 Fret.

Thanks OMA. I've been trawling the net since posting this and I'd pretty much already come to that conclusion.
Bummer.
Custom made box guitar it is then...
In about 5 years time...

You could always go to the Ovation Custom $hop.

Otherwise, half the LAV Koas were 12 fret, wide neck, cutaways. One almost sold here.

Tempted, but they're a contour bowl. Not a fan.

I'd think they'd sell you any bowl you might want. (go deep)
The good news is that you can a custom anything out of New Hartford.
The bad news is you gotta pay the custom price.
