Here's my band. I'd like opinions, if you've got time.

"Would you love her" had a bad mix but what I could hear of the song, it sounded promising. "Caught", I could hear the song/melody a bit better but still the sound mix was poor. I know its really hard to go into a place and get a good live sound. Do you have a sound guy working with you? If you can, find a guy that knows sound/music/mixing. Go to the venue plenty early, get set up and do several sound checks. Bring another person whom know sound to be a "third party" judge, the first being you the band, 2nd the sound mixer guy and then the third party judge. Try to come up with some kind of consensus between y'all. Hey, dude, the talent is there, get the sound down and you're there!

Sometimes more expensive or bigger or better isn't the answer.. A flip or other point'n shoot camera does really well in these situations, but a pro-A/V rig is NOT point'n shoot and can actually end up sounding worse. From what I could hear, it got me interested in listening to more.... can't wait...

Once we get the money, we are investing in a PA system, but I'm also saving for my first Ovation, a 1982-8 if I'm lucky!

I've heard a lot of these "hand held" recordings, and I think the result was more a factor of the recorder than the mix. As you are a new band I'll share some unsolicited advise. I played in bands for many years... up until the some time in the mid 90's, unless it was a stadium, the PA had the vocals, sometimes we had monitors of the vocals, and we had our amps up high enough. No amp mics, no drum mics.. Ok, occasionally we put a snare and kick mic in with the vocals on the PA, but that was it. Sound was great. We would position our amps so we could hear them, but still hear the vocals. When I say "we" I mean just about every band I knew did it this way. At some point, the clubs started micing everything and I think something was lost. All the bands ended up having a processed sound, they all sounded like they were recorded because the "sound" was essentially ONLY coming out of the PA for everything. All the definition was gone. That's fine for places that seat 600+, but for a small club, it's just silly and very stale sounding. The added benefit from learning to set your mix with your amps is that you naturally get good at it. When you end up in a club that does mic everything, you're all set. If they need you to turn down or turn up you will be able to do it because you know how to listen to each other without having a perfect monitor mix. If you get a good monitor mix... well then that is just that much better. As a final note, and its a personal thing...in a small venue a 3-piece with just the vocals in the PA sounds huge and alive. Sound is coming from everywhere. Oh sure someone standing in front of the bass amp is going to hear more bass than the guy standing in front of the guitar amp.. but that's just right in front. It will sound great for everyone else. It will sound live... and that's the point. = = = = getting off over-processed soap box ======

As for the recording, maybe it wasn't the best, but you could hear all of the instruments and the vocals, and really, that's the important stuff! There are a lot of waaaaaaaaay worse recordings on Youtube.
