I don't know if anyone besides me keeps a check on what Elderly Instruments has on its used section, but until fairly recently there was a 2005 Collectors in excellent condition up for grabs. I grabbed, and it's turned out to be a real gem. Many people say that Ovations truly shine when plugged in, but it's the acoustic voice that I love on this guitar. Add to that the beautiful appointments and inimitable Ovation neck and it's quite a package, especially considering what I paid for it.

Does anyone else have this model?

I have one. It's actually the 2nd one that I've owned. I sold the first one then missed it so much I had to get another one. I love the neck - slim and glossy. I also love the clean, understated look. To my ears, it's got a nice balanced sound. I'm also a big fan of the contoured bowl.

I played CrimsonLake's 05 in South Dakota. Of all the guitars there, it may have been my favorite.

I love the 2005. It's the one that (re)started it for me. I had pretty much given up on roundbacks. Uncomfortable to hold and they slip off your knee. But then I tried the 2005 and I was hooked again. Many other contour bowls followed that one into my home.

Yes, it's one of those guitars that you just want to pick up and play all the time, it feels so comfortable and sounds so good. Great sparkle and a lovely resonant sound across the bass strings.
