have upgraded to bone or Tusq saddles and nuts?

If ya have, please describe the diff.

I've done this using Tusq on my first daughter's Yama SJ-180 and my Tacoma DR-20. I definitely perceived a more 'vivid' sound and extended sustains.

Should I consider such an upgrade with my 'O's?

This is something I don't understand, such a great product yet plastic is used for the nut(polycarbonate) & saddle(delrin) The Mothership said they now use bone on replacement nuts, but still use delrin for the saddles (I just replaced mine on a 1617) The first set of strings has already left noticeable grooves in the saddle.

I upgraded one of my o's, which i sold.

My impression is, it's more of a placebo effect. But you do have a first class nut and saddle, and if you can afford it, what the heck.

Haven't (yet) done so to any of my O's, but upgraded bridge pins and saddles made a BIG difference, especially in increased sustain, on my Taks. I'm not a luthier, but I would think the nut material would have far less effect on tone and sustain than would the saddle and/or bridge pins.

i perceived a measurable increase in volume and sustain on both of my takamines by installing bone bridge pins. the saddles and nuts are bone from the factory. i'd be content if it was simply a "placebo effect", however, my ears rarely deceive me.
