Me with my new guitars

Me with my Ovations

I am not at all sure I've inserted these pictures correctly!  Nope it didn't work.

I am trying to post pics of my new Custom Elite 2078 LX along with my older Custom Legend 1619

If the pics don't come out you can go to my album to see them, or perhaps someone can tell me what I did wrong when I tried to paste in the URL.

I think you must have pasted the url in wrong

Did you upload them from photobucket?  Or some other host?  I found that on photobucket there are like 3 different links to choose from.  Try each one until one shows you a picture.  I never know which one will work on which website.

They are both beautiful guitars.  The main difference (besides the bling) between your 2078 and my 6778 is the contour bowl, right?  What preamp does it have?

The Custom Elite 2078 LX has the OP-Pro Studio. My old Custom Legend has the Piezoelectric Stereo system I think.

I didn't upload them from Photobucket. These photos were in my own dropbox. I had to decrease their size to get them under 200mb, which took a lot of trial and error. Then I uploaded them into my album here. The directions I read said to paste in the URL from my album. But apparently I didn't do something right. grrr

Oh dear... Its soooo easy I don't know why people find it so difficult.

OK..., first of all, make sure you've clicked on the 'reply' button, not just in the quick reply box. You'll know if you're in the right place because you'll see all the text editing features (font, paragraph, bold, italic, underlined etc...)

I usually have a second tab open with the gallery, or some photo source, click on a thumbnail to open the photo,  and right click and select "copy image location" (well, that's what it says on a Mac, if you use a PC then you deserve to be punished further....)

(depending on the webpage you're viewing, sometimes you can right click and select 'show image'. Then you just copy the URL in the address bar...)

Go back to the page with the full reply box open, click on the icon that looks like a tree, paste the url in the box that says "Image URL" and click "Insert"....

If you want to insert more photos, click the enter key twice to put some white space between the photos.

There are a few different ways to do it, this is my method and it works for me...

Beautiful!

If you're going to have one old tech and one new tech Ovation, those two cover the bases very well indeed. Now all you need is an intermediate era guitar, an Adamas, and a solid body or two.... (yes I am shamelessly enabling your addiction).

A 12-string will definitely be the next step in my ever worsening case of GAS. Someone recently offered to sell me an old 12-string made in Spain. It turned out to be in very bad shape and poorly made. Too bad.

It is definitely time to look into that instrument insurance we discussed in an earlier thread. I prize these instruments! They are both American made and in excellent condition. When people see my Custom Legend they are amazed to discover it's over 30 years old. It's been all over the US and Europe with me. Yet, it doesn't have a scratch on it. When I'm at my elementary school with my Custom Legend I put the fear of God into my my students if they even think about touching it without permission.

Meredith, are the frets smaller/thinner on your Custom Legend? I have a Patriot which has frets which are both thinner side to side and lower to the wood. It is my faded recollection from back in those days that frets on guitars felt lower than are typical today. It is possible the frets on my Patriot have been leveled and thus lower than original, but they are nevertheless more dainty than the modern Ovation/Adamas frets.

Those are gorgeous, Meredith! That red tear drop is very pretty and I love the CL!
I should be having a 10th anniversary in my hand in a month or so...
How are you liking the CE?

merlin666 - 2013-03-29 9:51 PM So what's the difference between 1778LX and 2078LX other than the bowl size?

Nothing.

Merideth's is a C2078LX so it't mid-bowl equal was the C778LX

Congrats Meredith, they look like a nice pair!

The pair is a lovely contrast for sure. Would like to know how they differ in sound and playability, how is the feel of the contour body?

When I play the Custom Elite I don't even think about the contour body, so it must feel natural. I've played the Custom Legend for over 30 years so I'm used to the old style bowl body. As for the sound the first significant difference I noted was how robust and resonant the Custom Elite sounded. It pumps out beautifully rich lows as well as bright, crisp highs. My Custom Legend's sound does not sound as rich. The action on the two are virtually identical from what I can tell so far. I have not noticed if the frets are more pronounced on one more than the other yet. I have them both in their cases right now. My husband's grandson's came today, so I had to hide everything I didn't want to get broken. *sigh* Boys, boys, boys. As soon as they arrived one of them was banging on the piano.

Muzza, I did it! Wow, that's big though!!!!! I decreased the size of my image A LOT, but it still turned out very, very big. I will get the hang of it eventually!
