I recorded Chasen singing his newest tune with my new videocam. The guitar is mic-ed only, so here's a good example of a 1581's sound if you haven't had the pleasure.

Un-named Song

Please let him know what you think if so inclined. The song still needs a name, so feel free to input if you like.

Thanks Damon. Very nice song. I like it. And I like the 1581 sound too.

Felt like I was listening to David Gates in the early 70's.....

David Gates??? That was pretty far from anything Bread-like.
Good tune, Damon. I would have liked to have heard a new, different chord in between the two 1st verses. Otherwise, very nice.
Song name? Maybe "Thru The Rain", but Maria Carrie already has a song with that name

Bread huh? I wouldn't have made that connection either.

Shit, did I just agree with Bob?

I always kinda thought Rob Thomasish.

Here he is on the same eve with the 1581 playing 'Take You Down'. Some may remember it from Bobbo's daily tune thread forever ago (I miss that). This is without the band. Much different vibe for sure...

I don't hear Gates either. Much more Granian-like to me. For the uninitiated, check this out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_sPb-b2ZZI

Great stuff. And Chasen's got a great sound too, Damon. I liked it. For whatever that's worth.

What kind of guitar was in that video? The neck popped off really easy for a $3000 guitar.

I could be mistaken but that looked like either a Taylor or Maton headstock to me (both of which can go in that neighborhood).

Love the 1581 unplugged. Up there with the very best Ovation/Adamas has to offer. Maybe a short title without Rain: "Make it Through"? Nice song, vocals!

yup, I believe you are correct...

must've been one of them quick disconnect, collapsable, EZ pack travel models.

I'm no Taylor expert, but I don't think there is any way a 110ce is "a $3000 guitar" like the other guy said in the video. And what was he doing holding onto the body and hitting the back of the headstock?

OMA calls it "adjusting the action" (whatever THAT means...)

Probably wasn't that exact model, just a definite family resemblance.

Saw a 814ce listed for $3,199.99 at GC online that looks a lot like it too.
