To my knowledge my home owner's insurance does not cover instruments over a certain amount. This is something I need to look into. Also, I often have my guitar with me at the school where I teach, NOT at home. I wonder if my home owner's insurance covers it while I'm at my job. I guess it would be the same thing as coverage while at a gig. Teaching elementary music and private guitar lessons is my "gig." I also wonder what value I'd place on my instruments. I want them covered for their REPLACEMENT value and not what the current market for them is. By the way, I searched the archives on this issue and couldn't find anything on this in the last year.

My insurance is drafted automatically from the escrow account of my mortgage. Once it was set up like that I haven't had a thought about it since. But I really need to, esp. since I'm getting ready to add a new "baby" to my collection! Thanks, noah, that's a good tip.

Thought that was kinda crappy. Now I have my coverage through the Union. Their rates are pretty good, and I know their insurance carriers know musicians and musicians' issues.

There might have been a limit that I have now exceeded, so it would be worth checking again. This is a good topic to consider every few years and it's nice to see that Cliff is still watching out for us.

Thanks Damon. Someday we hope you'll get old and can experience some of those senior moments. Usually it's the short term memory that goes, so I am sure I forgot that we had just talked about this and remembered that we had talked about it a long time ago.

I'd have to have written appraisals on each instrument though. Instead, I just started selling a bunch of them, so now I don't have enough to really worry about.

Seems coverage is comparable but I found Heritage/musicins.com to be a bit more affordable on premiums. If I remember right, they seemed a bit less pressured to make the sale on the phone too. They're the ones I use too. Can't speak to the service as I haven't had to use it thank *** (knock on lyrachord)

So far this week I left my glasses at one restaraunt, and my credit card at another.... And there were no drinks involved.
