I've recently bought a nice Preacher, it looks cool hung next to the Deacon, kinda like a very small 1970's guitar shop........ anyways, it looks like somebody's bypassed the pickup selector switch on the Preacher, and wired it so that both pickups are on all the time. I'm not too concerned about the stereo function, but I would like to rewire it so that the pickup selector switch works. I found a schematic wiring diagram, but that's for scientists, not simple country folk like me. I could really do with a photo of the insides of a Preacher, if anyone happens to have one lying around??

Which version do you have? My daughter keeps her Preacher Deluxe here in my music room and I could take a picture for you. Hers has the active electronics. I did not know of a stereo function.

Hi thanks for responding, it's identical to this guitar: http://www.guitar-museum.com/guitar-8470-Ovation-Preacher-1281 I tried to post an actual pic in the 'albums' section of this site, but it kept saying 'your picture is too big' so I gave up after half an hour of trying! Mine doesn't have active electronics, but does have both mono and stereo outputs.

I don't think my daughter's wiring will be the same. Hers is the Deluxe which has the active electronics and a mono output.

I don't have any pictures, just the schematic. My preacher is also unique in that it has Viper Pickups. I thought someone might have a preacher to pop off the back cover and take a pic.

I think I may have it sussed now, thanks everybody - turns out the reason the selector switch was bypassed was because it's not the right one ( 'on-off-on' as opposed to 'on-on-on' ) once the new one arrives from Warman Guitars, should be a piece of cake.......

Ahh, that does explain it. Warmouth does not have original replacement parts as far as I know.... If you want an original replacement, email me at mileskb at aol.com. But... that being said... If the correct switch is not in there, you may not be able to use the original as the hole would be too big. Do you have a picture of your guitar to share. Just really need to see the area of the switch.
