| I have been taking lessons & playing guitar for about 10 months. I would like to purchase a travel guitar, and I am considering a used Ovation Celebrity Deluxe cc257. How would this guitar travel including plane & camping?
How fragile is the wood top from cracking? I live in Kansas City & it gets very humid in the summers.

So the wood is not as likely to crack. The finish could crack from sudden temperature changes.
This is a Full Sized guitar, so I won't be any easier to take on a plane.
But if pad the headstock correctly it may survive as luggage, but it won't fit in the overhead bin.
There are many discussions about carrying a guitar on a plane and having it put in the attendants' closet. (trying to be PC and not say "stewardess")
As with any guitar, you should watch for humidity changes... too much and too little.
I have owned a couple of CS257's and they are nice guitars.

Location: Sydney, Australia | I have a Traveler guitar Escape MkII www.travelerguitar.com and would recommend it for carting around. It's tough as nails, has a full size fretboard and is light and small. If you want it for a sing along, you'll need some laptop speakers, but if you're just playing for yourself, it comes with earphones. |

| I was not aware of the Applause Line, photos on Guitar Center .com does not show the back, is it similar to the Ovation line? interesting cost $$. Will a 3/4 size fit as a carry on? I had ruled out the Traveler line as I want a guitar that I can play while camping, ie... Little if any electricity.

Location: Sydney, Australia | The back of the Applause is similar to the Ovation back. 3/4 should fit as a carry on, just need to be careful in the overhead lockers that some oaf doesn't shove their overweight carry-on bag into it with force. |
