Joined: April 2006 Posts: 972 Location: PDX | As Mike pointed out, i owned an H&D CM for a time. Incredible guitar! I own a Collings C-10 which is a very comparable small body guitar. Tone wise, to my ear, the H&D had the edge. It was better balanced and had a richer bass. The C-10 has clearer and brighter treble. Again, to my ear. Construction -- both equally superb. As with all guitars, there is going to be variation from guitar to guitar. But if you're going to buy it off ebay -- a H&D will reduce the risk of getting a dog. _____ gh1

The maple collings C10 Deluxe I just pick up has one of those K&K pickups installed in it. Very nice and natural sounding when plugged in and doesn't seem to distract from the acoustic tone at all. Good luck with it.
