With more regular practices now occurring in my bandroom for a jam band we formed last spring, I realized my vintage sound reinforcement system was a bit antiquated for the task of mixing 12 different input sources.  As a result, I figured an upgrade project was in order, the result of which appears below.  The Mackie mixer serves as the centerpiece.  It took only a few days with the owner’s manual to grasp its capabilities and to figure out all the connections, but it will take longer to develop a working familiarity with the settings and controls. A cheat sheet helps. I’m the original owner of the 30-year old vintage Yamaha stereo PA on top which powers the main speakers, and the Fender PA on the bottom powers the monitors. The reverb/FX unit below the Mackie is used for the vocals. I even incorporated a small shelf to hold a couple of notebooks (operating manuals, song lists, chord chart, etc.).  The mix of the band is improving significantly with the Mackie, and I expect it to get even better as I continue to become acquainted with sound mixing, something I've never really done before. I could sure use Temp’s expertise about now.

I'm wondering where you found the floor space to put it!

Already had the shop-built rack from many years ago.  Just had to modify it a little and move out a smaller amp that it once contained.

Repurposing some old PA gear....I like it.

Rube Goldberg would be proud.
