Actually, I came across these tuners for the first time on the Balladeer reissue I traded dwgpreacher for a dread handbuilt he brought to my house. The luthier is about to finish up a custom OM for me and I was interested in having these tuners on it. They are like tuners on a bass. You stick the end of the string into a hole at the top of the tuning post and bend it out through a slot at the top. Makes for much faster, easier string changes, especially the treble strings. Anybody know where I can get these after market for my OM?

Are you just asking what kind they were? Kluson

You can buy 'em here http://www.wdmusic.com/shop_by_category_tuning_machines_kluson_6_in...

Much obliged bro! Exactly what I was after. I found out the luthier already put chrome Waverlys on it with ebony buttons to match the top border trim. I'm going to change them out tho, I like the ones with the slot at the top of the post.

I'd keep the waverlys.

I need a Kluson too, a vintage one for a Mosrite (have a new one as a placeholder now). They're pretty expensive to get an original.

The Kluson tuners are nice because of the hole for the string end but my opinion as far as performance they are inferior to the waverly's.

This seems to be the consensus opinion on all forums. Guess I'll stick with the Waverly's. The luthier building my OM insists they are the best and posted me a quote from Tony Rice saying the same thing. I just liked how fast and easy the tuners were for restringing my Balladeer reissue.
