Is it true that an Ovation tech owns Adamas #34 or is it just bull crap? I wish only one day I could just play one of these slot heads one day and in particular #34. Posted in the website: I Am...I Said, A Fan of Neil Diamond Neil's Blue Adamas Guitar From Love At The Greek Posted by brotherlovesshow 2007-06-28 18:08:07.0 Interesting story. I just watched Love at the Greek and I'm Glad You're Here With Me Tonight and was intrigued by Neil's Adamas guitar. Turns out only 33 of these guitars were produced back in 1977. After having performed with the guitar at a number of shows, including two TV specials, Neil decided he didn't like the way the guitar played and gave it back to Charles Kaman, the owner of the Ovation / Adamas Guitar Co. It was offered to an authorized dealer who wasn't interested. Turns out the guitar tech who worked at the shop was and purchased it. He still has it and from what I understand has no interest in parting with it. Since it is 1 of only 33 made (today's value approx. $10,000 for the other 32), it was already extremely rare and collectible. Since it was Neil's, it's now that much more desirable (maybe $20,000?). Since I don't see the probability of owning it, I am having Ovation custom make a reproduction of that guitar for my tribute show. Takes about 8 months and $4000. Obviously I take my "recreation" of Neil rather seriously! So, there you have it. The story of Neil's Adamas guitar as told to me today by a very reliable source and Ovation authority. I do however know for a fact where #57 is...one of the ultra rare wideneck versions that was formally owned by Paul McCartney during Wings. Edited by stephent28 2012-10-21 7:05 PM

Andy Kim should do a Neil Diamond tribute band thing. It would have to be more lucrative than his actual career. Everyone things his one hit is Neil anyway.

Even when in an interview and asked to sing a little, he sings like it's the very first time and the very last time you will hear it. He's not the only one, but I think he's the best example of the "telling a story through words and emotion". He takes his time, he listens to the room's reaction and feeds off it, and that circle of power just intensified with every syllable. And if you look at nearly any performance of his it's the same type of intensity. You can even hear that each performance seems to vary slightly. The words are the same, but the enunciation, timing fit the room, fit the moment. It makes it personal to everyone watching and listening. No matter our style, I think we can all take a lesson from him on performance.
