Location: Phoenix AZ | C stands for "Classic". A real vintage ES-137 goes for about $5k. About 5 years ago they reissued it as the "C" model at a much more affordable price. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | The 137 is very similar to the 135. I found a vintage 135 with the rare stock P-90s hanging in the Boston GC some years ago. I bought it on the spot, but had to wait for police clearance since it had only been traded in earlier that day. Its a wonderful guitar for rockabilly, particularly with the P-90s. Mine is the vintage two-tone burst which is not nearly as gorgeous as the triburst like Dave's. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I'm not sure it is a 137C. The "C" suffix is the common desigation for the Custom model, which includes a few extra appointments over the standard model. Dave's guitar appears to be the standard model, and if you look closely at the model designation on the lable, the suffix appears to be a "S" with the bottom part of the S inscribed on top of the preprinted line. The triburst finish is gorgeous. |

I think it depends on the guitar construction. This Gibson (and I think most Gibson's) have a solid center block rubbing the length of the body. It's almost like a solid body with two hollow body "wings". So the fixed bridge is bolted to the center block. Just like a Les Paul. Ovation Thunderhead by contrast is really a hollow body guitar so there is no way to fix a stop bridge to anything solid. So they use the trapeze tailpiece and attach it to the end block. |
