Location: Jet City | I don't typically do these, but this thing belongs in the hands of an OFCer. At first I'd think the price kind of high, but I rarely see the white pickguard models, so I'll give him that. It looks like an early one with the switch where it is.... White Viper |

Location: Massachusetts | I've been poking around for a Viper and I really like the white with the matching headstock. I've spoken with the seller and the serial number is E8903.
There are 10 or 11 earlier Viper serial numbers in the registry so I guess this isn't crazy early in the run.
In the serial number decoder, E + four numbers is 1973-1975. Any way to nail it to a particular year?
Any further thoughts on the guitar would be appreciated.
Back into the shadows I go...
Thanks guys,
Bob |

Location: Massachusetts | Sorry I forgot to ask:
Are the Viper fretboards ebony or rosewood? The seller couldn't tell.
Thanks again,

Location: Jet City | My guestimate would be it's a first year due to the color and the placement of the pickup toggle. It's an ebony fingerboard. |

Location: Massachusetts | Hi Willa - I bought the Viper, and it should arrive within the next few days. I don't like to buy guitars without playing them first - but I couldn't resist on this one. He was asking $800.00 but accepted my offer of $650.00.
I'll post some pics when it arrives.

Willa, it's out of date. I'm building a new site now, it will be WAY better to get around in.

Location: Massachusetts | Finally arrived! This Viper looks like it was played very sparingly - condition is incredible. Plays and sounds GREAT.
This is my first foray into Ovation solid bodies and I am blown away!!
Many thanks to Damon67 for the PSA.
