I'm a new member from the Seattle area and am looking forward to being part of the bunch.
My Question: Is it possible to replace the original electronics in an '83 Collector's with one of the new Ovation packages? If so, which ones fit and where would I purchase new parts?
I understand that I would have to modify the guitar. I'm trying to rejuvenate and old friend. Any info is greatly appreciated. |

Specify what you need, and ask to be directed to John B.
Mention the Ovation Fan Club
It might not help, but mention us anyway. |

You're now a full fledged OFC member. Feel free to frolic about the site and post at will.
What part of town you in?

Is that the one that has the knobs in the waist part of the guitar? I'd swap it out with a newer one honestly.
I had an '83 with the same config. Those are prime subjects for a new preamp in that you can cut out the hole for the new preamp without having to worry about plugging the hole from the old.
The Butcher of Bremerton (MWoody on here) took a dremel to it and we had it in in an afternoon. I put an OP50 in, but if you can find a good deal on an OpPro, that would be even better.
That's my opinion, but if you're playing out, you'll appreciate the better preamp I bet. |

Location: Pacific NW | Sorry for the tardy response, been swamped the last few days. Damon, I'm in Redmond, up on Education Hill. I was thinking I wanted to upgrade to one of the newer systems with the EQ and tuner. I did call the factory. There were two names they sent me to, one was out until Monday and the other didn't get back to me.
Are any of you going to the Guitar show in Bellevue in Sunday? If so, maybe we could meet over a cup of coffee. You can shoot me an email at jaycssi@comcast.net. |
