Hi and thanks to all for the welcome!

After having played my Applause AE128 for the past three weeks, I've decided to pick up an Ovation model GC057 mid-bowl at my local Guitar Center. The price they quoted me is VERY good.

It's my understanding that this model is a Guitar Center exclusive. Is that true? Are there any reasons I shouldn't buy one? I've already played it and it fits the bill quite nicely. I can leave it out on the stand and leave my Martin safely locked away from being accidentally damaged. Just curious about any potential issues or problems with this model.....if any.

Thanks in advance!

I think you've answered your own question..."The price they quoted me is VERY good.' ...and "I've already played it and it fits the bill quite nicely." I've heard good stuff about that model. Go rescue that puppy!

As for "Martin safely locked away from being accidentally damaged," I lock my D41 away too, but only because it doesn't sound as good as the Ovations.

Post pics if you get it.

Seems to me you have already satisifed the primary criteria. It suits you and your needs.

I've no real experience with the GC models, but if they weren't good guitars, they wouldn't sell so many of them.

I've always thought the Celebs were great bang for your buck, but I admit a bias as the Celeb I learned to play on is still in my family. It was my primary guitar for a LONG time. It now resides with my sister, and it's always a nice trip down memory lane whenever I get my hands on it.

I played my GC057SSB on Cinco de Mayo. I used it instead of my Adamas. The little guy will go loud and not feedback. You can also put the strings almost on the neck. They play great.

Too late! I've been a bass player for the past 45+ years and just learned to play guitar about 10 years ago.

Let's just say, it gotten to the point that the wife doesn't question anymore. She just shakes her head......

I, personally, would look at this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ovation-Legend-1767-Acoustic-Guitar-with-OH...

No warranty, but a superior USA built guitar at a great price......

I'm with moody - that's a great price on a 1992 Legend. A beautiful hand carved glossy neck on that one too -and in great condition. Someone should grab it quick.

+1 on moody's suggestion.

I love my Legend (1617-4), but would love it even more if it had the cutaway. That one looks in great shape and at a great price. IMHO

Yep! If it looks good, plays good, sounds good and is priced right... BUY IT.

As to everyone's suggestion on the $500 Legend... We Love Spending Your Money.

But if you can get a reasonable deal, go for it.

I once had a GC057... I liked it.

OMA, I'm not trying to tell anybody how to spend their money (I know that you didn't suggest that I was). All I'm doing is presenting options based on what I see and my experience.....

Now I am confused......what is an '87?

Not the one in the ebay auction cause it does not have the "87 collectors" on the fretboard.

Well I did it. Picked it up this morning, just finished the day's chores and now I'm getting ready to restring her and settle in for an enjoyable evening!

It's the one I play all the time! I love mine. You can almost lay the strings on the neck. Fun guitars.
