Random quote: "Ovation Guitars really don't get the respect they deserve!" - Alex Pepiak |
Should I pull the trigger on this one?

Joined: April 2012 Posts: 15 Location: Outside Providence | Hi and thanks to all for the welcome! After having played my Applause AE128 for the past three weeks, I've decided to pick up an Ovation model GC057 mid-bowl at my local Guitar Center. The price they quoted me is VERY good. It's my understanding that this model is a Guitar Center exclusive. Is that true? Are there any reasons I shouldn't buy one? I've already played it and it fits the bill quite nicely. I can leave it out on the stand and leave my Martin safely locked away from being accidentally damaged. Just curious about any potential issues or problems with this model.....if any. Thanks in advance!

I've heard good stuff about that model. Go rescue that puppy! As for "Martin safely locked away from being accidentally damaged," I lock my D41 away too, but only because it doesn't sound as good as the Ovations. Post pics if you get it.

Seems to me you have already satisifed the primary criteria. It suits you and your needs. I've no real experience with the GC models, but if they weren't good guitars, they wouldn't sell so many of them. I've always thought the Celebs were great bang for your buck, but I admit a bias as the Celeb I learned to play on is still in my family. It was my primary guitar for a LONG time. It now resides with my sister, and it's always a nice trip down memory lane whenever I get my hands on it.

I've been a bass player for the past 45+ years and just learned to play guitar about 10 years ago. Let's just say, it gotten to the point that the wife doesn't question anymore. She just shakes her head......

As to everyone's suggestion on the $500 Legend... We Love Spending Your Money. But if you can get a reasonable deal, go for it. I once had a GC057... I liked it.
