You can argue over whether I get inspired or obsessed when an idea pops in and go through my assorted Ovation and Ebay parts but this one is as close to the "what the Factory Shoulda done" if they still made solids.

Take a much loved Deacon Neck, Viper Pickups, Piezo Saddles, One Piece Chrome Bridge and a Woody Pickguard. Put it in a fuzzy Purple hard shell case...

Feels like a Deacon, plays like a Viper and a VXT...Also has an External Battery mount and Stereo Jack to play similar to the VXT.
I need the funds to support my BFLG habits... $475 shipped in the CONUS.

shame that didn't have the viper 3 control setup and pups....now that would've been uber cool.

still, very cool guitar mike. good luck with the sale.

For you Stephen, we could change it over...

I think those Mid position Viper pups are different than the Neck/Bridge units but it could be done.

well for it to work for me I would also need the pickguard to be recessed and smooth with the top and also a reduction in price....since it would now totally be a bastardized guitar suitable for someone with no taste who liked my specs!

small market indeed.

But all the other Coloradan's seemed so easy to please? :D

Yup, totally Wood-ized.

Hi there MWoody,

I joined the OFC last year but have been without a computer, so i'm still a newbie here. I see that the last post for the Uber Deacon was about 4 months ago. Is it still for sale, or has it been sold already?

If it's still up for grabs i can try to get the funds together. I absolutely LOVE the design (ergonomic). The only thing on the market today that i could possibly afford are the Eastwood Breadwinners($500). I have no idea of the quality and it's impossible to try one without ordering and paying for it. The Ovation i am certain of the quality, i've owned a few. Love the balance and they're not too heavy either.

Thanks,
Glenn :0)

It's still here, played it out a couple of weeks ago.

$475 with case and allowing for $50 towards shipping.

If I still had the need for a solid body electric, I' be ALL OVER this in a heartbeat! That is a LOT of guitar for a cheap price. ... and to have such an original as this ... well the idea alone is priceless! There has got to be somebody out there who has the coins to buy this one.

... Only one thing I would change on this ... I think the truss rod cover should be ngraved withthe word "Woody"

Before building this one I had assembled a couple of others using the Shadow Piezo Bridge Saddles or similar. The obsession kept up and the Deacon body with Viper pups just had to happen.

I put together the hollowbody Deacon using actual VXT electronics so can let this one go.

I think everyone needs to try a Hybrid out. They are just so versatile.

Colordoans are typically easy to please. I could certainly live with this one as a handy researsal unit. Someday, our own Woodster is going to make a custom for some big name star who will take it on tour and show it off in lots of photos (taken by Damon) all over the Internet. After that, Woody will be in such high demand that none of us will be able to afford his custom creations.

Looking good....really good. Just waiting on shipping expenses. Then it should be a go, as far as i can tell it's a done deal (really really close). Feel like a kid in a toy store! Remember toys? Way before computer games...lol :0)

rhythm s.pace, I am supremely jealous of you! When this came up for sale there was no way for me to buy it. Now with a tax surprise I could do it, but had forgotten about it. Two of Woody's projects already call my music room home, so I am confident you will enjoy this one! (If the deal falls through let me know...)

FlySig, I'm pleased to hear your commendation on Woddy's creations. I am looking forward to having this instrument in my music room. I can't say that i really need another solidbody, but it's the ergonomic factor of the instrument that's got me interested. I am a sucker for these guitars, and the price is very reasonable. From a collectors point of view, well it's not in its' original state......But from a players standpoint it's a real bargain. And sorry but the deal has not, nor will it fall through. (well i'm not THAT soory)

Cheers- Glenn

Cup of coffee circa 1980... 25 cents to free

Cup of Custom Handmade Specialized Caffienated Beverage today... $3.50 (and a tip)

So stuff changes and my basterdized custom creations could one day be worth a lot of kachinga!

So until then just be happy that I took some broken parts and made something enjoyable to play. You could take this guitar apart and sell the parts for more than what was paid but that wouldn't be much fun at all.

I'm just going to have to hate you in a friendly kind of way! Unrequited GAS is a terrible thing to endure.

I want some form of a Deacon/Breadwinner, and am not stuck on it being original configuration. The Viper pickups are very nice sounding, and of course Woody's pick guards are unique. I will kick myself for being asleep at the switch on this one. My 19 yr old daughter wants a breadwinner to go with her black Preacher Deluxe. Someday I'll find the right instrument to have rebuilt for her in a very slightly pink shade of gloss white.

Here are the two Woody creations I've got. One is standard Viper in excellent condition except for a couple of small dings on the body. The other is a custom 12 string A-scale creation.

Well rest assured that this creation of Woody's is going to a good home. I'm a full-time musician, so it will be played often. Probably will end up being my main guitar since the shape and balance allows one to sit and play it for hours without fatigue.

Your 2 Woody's are beautiful!! Love the wood on wood pickguard/body Viper, and the bridgeplate on the mini 12. The 12 string must chime for days! Ooh i want 1! It'll hafta' wait though...

I am anxious to hear the Viper p-ups... I should find out how they sound sometime next week upon delivery.

Been surfin' YouTube checking out Viper's...and man do those p-ups spank! Along with the piezo saddles....should be very intersting. Not to mention versatile. Next week is starting to feel so far away now.

Here's my Woody creation (tho not a great picture) - a Koa Viper:

Nice! The Koa is beautiful, incredible grain pattern. And of course there is nothing that feels nicer than an ebony fingerboard imho.
