Location: Waurika OK | A couple of years ago there was a thead that asked what brand of guitar you would by if not an O.
Of course there were many brands listed.
Paul T and Moody and others had been to the winter NAMM show in Ca.
Temp had an enthusiastic response about a guitar from the then new Masterbuilt line from Epiphone.
A 12 fret slot head, solid rosewood body and solid cedar top. I have been looking every since and finally got one.
Really like it, Paul T.thanks for the heads up on this one. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | It never ceases to amaze me how many really nice guitars are out there that we know very little about. Like this one. Like the Takamines that are gaining popularity over on the other forum. Like all the Hamers being built in the back closet. And customs from a number of high end American manufacturers. There are others. Amazing. As I'ver suggested before, so many guitars, so little time. Last fall, we did a jazz show and I needed a guitar that would provide a warm jazz tone as close to, say, what you might hear from Wes himself. I took about a half dozen guitars into rehearsal to experiment with sounds, all archtops, all USA-made except one, some vintage, some not, and I let the band pick the one they thought best captured the jazz tone. They passed up all the Gibsons, the Gretsch, and the Guild and chose the Epiphone Joe Pass model with special jazz strings suggested by another OFC member. If I repeated the exercise today, I think the Hamer Improv would be my selection, but for $500, the Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor II is a terrific deal on big honking L-5 knockoff archtop. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | At NAMM when that one came out, Temp pulled me away from the Marty booth and ordered me to wipe to drool from my lips. He dragged me down the aisle to Epi and showed me the MB. It was stunning. And $600 !!! |
