As you all knows, I've bought Nick's wonderful old 1127, I'm really happy with. But I've some questions about these guitars. I've had always in mind the 1127/1627 are all A-braced. The 1627 formerly owned by Mario and Patch was made in 1985 definitly was A-braced. Now this old one made in 1969 is not A-braced, it is VT-8 or VT-11 braced I can't see it exactely. The A-braced one was a bit more bassy, the VT-? braced is more bright and crisp. Okay, the old one is an acoustc only, which are sounding a bit different (maybe better).
Anybody out there who knows which ones are made in different kinds of bracings?

Bernie, I got some years back a 1117 from Damon. If I remember correctly it would be 69/70 VT11 braced guitar and, after simply replacing nut & saddle [compensated] with bufalo bone ones and put on super light string set it gained a great sound !!
Now I'm sure you have already surfed Jerome website. However the 1972 catalog reports 1127 GC artist to be a VT8 braced guitar ......

yes I did and that is why I'm confused. I also found on Dave's site Tony's GC # F-161 A-braced, mine is #F-157........ I only want to understand the system.
It is not that I'm not loving the sound, I love more the bright and clear sound. If not I think I'd play woodboxes. (maybe).

Maybe a transition model..... Mine, for instance, have a strange brace that run nearly vertically the guitar near the soudhole; it is not in the "standard" VT11 bracing pattern. The bridge is not winged and the freatbord inlays pattern looks like to be more a deluxe balladeer then the legend that really is. Who knows ....the "system" in that period (probably) was not completely stable ....
