If it's an EA63, $499 would be a good price, not so good if it's a CV63. Their item #107477270, or go to guitarcenter.com, used gear, search for AE63. I'm tempted but can't think of an excuse to buy it. -Steve W.

I don't know if that is a "good deal" but for those of you that wanna do the Malsteem nylon shredding, this is the critter to do it with. -Here is a Link to it- But you still gotta search the number... 107477270 I couldn't get a direct link. And call the store for Used Items... I got my RolandRX that way.

It is my understanding that the EA63's were only made a couple times a year, throughout the production, based on pre-order. I assume Ovation came up with the solid body "acoustic" after Chet pushed Gibson into that arena. I have had both the 63 and Gibson CE and imo, tonally, they both get you to the same place (which is a very nice classical sound, for a nylon les paul). The only difference to me was the finish on the neck. The Gibson neck won out. Used CE's usually go for over a grand easy... Extremely good price. My viper went to Germany, before the economy went belly up, for over 1K. I don't think many were made. Edited by jay 2012-03-17 8:15 PM

I'd buy the Viper, but I have an Aria nylon semi-solid: http://theinstrumentcenter.com/product_info.php?products_id=223995 http://www.instrumentpro.com/image.php?src=/Merchant2/graphics/0000... This is truly an amazing instrument with a fat and deep sound, one of my favorites. The prototype has a 2 inches nut width instead of the standard 1-3/4 nut. A great guitar !

" has a 2 inches nut width " "the standard 1-3/4 nut " I have always wondered...Exactly from where to where is measured to determine actual "nut width"? I am assuming it is always at the nut, but is it from the bottom of the 1st string to the top of the 6th string? From the middle of those strings? What is the standard? I personally feel the neck profile affects reach as much, if not more, than nut width. Edited by jay 2012-03-18 8:14 PM

Yes Noah it is 1-7/8 and not 1-3/4, i am sorry for the mistake. I was thinking european units (48mm) and i did a mis-conversion from mm to inches. Thx ! Jay, It's the width of the nut itself and standard for most Ovation acoustics is 1 11/16". The actual string spacing seems to vary slightly from unit to unit given the same nut size.
