WHY would you remove the keys? And if he did that, don't you think the nut was changed? He didn't mention it.
This is just odd.

I think he simply removed six tuners.

By the reference (you need to add six tuners) I'm guessing the seller didn't do it. Otherwise he'd throw them in the sale like people do when they've changed buttons.

Ok, I can understand Al response to a point....it might be a little top heavy, but why would you really remove the tuners. Just don't put the friggin strings on 'em....especially if you might not keep the guitar. Weird.

Actually pretty common and a HOST of reasons.. Might just want to ask the seller. Never had tuners on it when bought it. Just to get the extra ones out of the way, broke one, didn't want to replace it, likes to play six string with wide spacing... the list is endless and all guessing unless you ask. Remember Ovation's are only special to "us". To most people, whatever guitar they are playing is just fine. You'd be surprised at the number of people whom you can ask "what kind of guitar do you play" and they'll have to think about the answer, or the answer will be "whatever is handy."

Couldn't have been as simple as they needed a 6-string and all they had was the 12-string.. Much easier to tune without those extra tuners in the way.

I've seen pictures of Jimmy Page playing a doubleneck 6/12 with some of the 12's tuners removed...Al and Miles are correct...
Great buy at $350..the additional tuners are readily available and simple to install...
