Joined: November 2008 Posts: 400 Location: Northwest Arkansas | I took out the shims on my Celebrity and the pickup came apart. The white thing with the silver and gold things in it need to go in it how? I'm putting it back together as I'm posting this. I could use the help.

On the Ovation site in the How-Tos section there is a video on adjusting the action which shows a little about removing the saddle/pickup. Maybe watching it quick will help you figure out how it goes back together? http://www.ovationguitars.com/soundroom/category/how-tos

The gold thing is the actual piezo pickup and should be connected to the wire with solder. If the gold pickup is not connected, you may have fatally injured your pickup. This is a replacement alternative: That is by acquiring a proper-sized saddle and an Artec pickup. BUT! I have only done this repair to guitars with OP cans. If your guitar has an OP4BT preamp or an OP24, you would have to check how the pickup attaches to the preamp. I have never worked on them so I do not know if the pickup just plugs-in. I hope that is helpful. -edit- I guess you have to "click" to see the photos. Sorry, I don't have a photo of a dis-assembled "Thinline" pickup... I just hunted those pics down from my ancient archive... That was one of my rebuild projects.

I got it back in, but man was it difficult. I'll give it a try. I appreciate your help. I'll tell you what happened, either way. Cross your fingers.

Joined: November 2008 Posts: 400 Location: Northwest Arkansas | I got a better pickup for it at an awesome price. My music store is awesome. I just started going there a few months ago. These guys are A1. They go beyond most music stores. They are about 15 miles from my house and they have some great Ovation guitars. It's a small store that specializes in lessons and the stuff every musician needs. Thanks Greg, Adrian, Jimmy and Tom.

I don't know if the p/u was bad to begin with but it will work out well for my acoustic gigs. Of course the Adamas will be my main instrument, but my luthier set the strings perfect. No buzz, but lower than I ever thought it could go. One of the younger guys in the store played it and he called it a shred guitar. Not by me, fingerstyle almost exclusively. I was gonna sell it. Not now. SSB GC 057 Great little guitar now. We put pearl tuner buttons on it too.
