I remembered a comment someone made to me at a party at my farmhouse in the 70's when I put on a GC album. Everybody there was freakers, as we liked to be known as in those days. I was told "Dave doesn't get to choose the music anymore. His taste sucks". So it was back to Led Zeppelin and the Stones. I always attributed my love of country music to childhood experience. I grew up in northern Indiana in a rural area. There was a truck stop in riding distance on my bicycle that was run by two sisters from Tennesee named Eve and Nadine (of course). The jukebox was full of country music. Every time I found a dime I pedalled off to play Ring of Fire, and would sit and listen to the music others played. It was my early indoctrination into what would become the music of my life. I especially liked watching the vids of GC and Jerry Reed - each picking O's, and the close ups of Glen ripping it. I can't stand the thought of a talent like that dimming slowly until it fades away completely. I hate Alzheimers and what I've seen it do to a few people I've known. Glen deserves better than this for all he's given us. I could kick myself for ever selling my GC Ovation. I'd give anything to have it back now. Just gonna be a sad day.

I remember seeing a very visible gouge on the top in the lower treble bout, but this time I'm gonna look it over thoroughly. Since I have my daughter's wedding to pay for, I can't buy it. I can, however, maybe do a barter for a sign for their building I can handpaint (been a signpainter for 40 years). If I end up with it, maybe after the wedding I can send it to the MS for a new top if the cost isn't too outrageous. It's worth a shot and I'd own a constant reminder of my favorite guitarist since childhood. Wish me luck.

It has a 10" crack thru the wood on the top and the bridge plate has pulled up a bulge in the belly. The neck has the worst bow I've ever seen. The neck is very skinny - like a Tele. I don't remember my GC having a neck that thin? The bowl is deeply scratched solidly all over it like it was dragged across a cinder pile. The idiotic thing is the clerk said the least they'd take for it is $250.00! I wouldn't hand paint them a two foot long paper banner in trade for it. Back to looking.

That's a great idea. I'm gonna give it a shot. Ain't no way they're gonna get 250 for that totally shot guitar. Thanks for the suggestion.

Her name is Melissa. He took her hand, held it and said "mmmmmm, Melissa", in a very desirous tone. She was flattered. I explained to her later that Melissa is the title of his favorite song and the only Allman Bros tune he played guitar on. And no - the mattress isn't old - and it cost me $1,800.00.
