Location: Michigan | i am so frikin mad at myself .
yesterday i plugged in my mill cb that is tuned down to double d to my roland ac 60 to play a new song that i learned ohio by neil young.
i keep getting a shorting out sound through the amplifier. it was driving me nuts . i keep moving the cord around and it keeped shorting out.i put it down and said i will tackle it tomorrow. i putzed with it today and took the back round hole off and messed with it wiggling wires and trying to make something connect so i could play electric. nothing but a short out sound now and then . after thinking that i was having to send it out for repair i thought , maybe i should change the battery ??? i did an now everything just works perfect.
i want to kick myself in the ass for owning many ovation/adamas guitars for over 10 years and still fu#k up on the most basic thing that you should know.
embarrassed as hell but happy it is not a repair.GWB

That's hard to do... I know... I've tried.
I'll be on your side of the bay a few times. In the interest of helping out I'd be glad to swing the ol' boot for a friend.
.
I have a very interesting story in a similar vein but it's to far off topic to bring up here on the OFC.
.
It's happened to be best of us GWB. Just be glad you weren't up on stage when it happened. |

Location: cincinnati, ohio | I have a Roland AC 60 too. I've bee playing out for 40+ years and recently logged a rookie mistake of my own. I had set up at a little coffeehouse for a Saturday night gig. Nice place, great atmosphere, and a decent-sized crowd. I was using my '71 Balladeer acoustic with an aftermarket Fishman SuperNatural under saddle pickup. I have a Planet Waves headstock/vibration tuner for it. About ten minutes before showtime, I go to tune up and do a soundcheck. Vocal mic is fine, but there's no sound coming out of the guitar.
At all.
Even though the battery was only a week old, I changed it. Still nothing.
Now I'm geting concerned. I pull the cord out of the guitar and plug it back in. Still dead. I have backup guitar cords and a Dean Markley soundhole pickup in case of an emergency - like this.
I'm about to resort to this when I look down and realize I've plugged my guitar into the HEADPHONE jack! I nonchalantly reach down and switch the cord, and everything's fine.
So...don't be too hard on yourself, GWB. Everybody has at least one story like this.

Location: Triangle area, NC | in college I kept a pack of batteries in my gig bag just in case that happened. Once I plugged my XLR jack into the PA and got no signal. Frantic i just miced the guitar. Sounded OK. The next day a friend told me that I needed to have the 1/4 inch also plugged in to make connection. That would of been helppful!! Part of learning!! |
