Hi All!
Any ideas what one of these might be worth? Found it on Craigs and am thinking it might be a good deal..

That's sort of like asking "how long is a piece of string"? There's a lot of variables that go into it. Condition, history, case, original candy, etc. The range is going to be $100 - $1000. These are not particularly sought after models.

Hi Bobbo!!
Thanks for your response! Yeah.. I coulda made that question a little more general... LOL!!
Didn't know much more than it was a 1983 Collectors till I went and looked at it.. It's a shallow body, cutaway in a greyburst (?).. Has the stacked knobs for the pickup.. The case is trash, but, except for a few little dings, the guitar is not in too bad a shape..

It is exactly what it looks like, a great gigging instrument. However it is not one of the most popular Ovations, so you can get insanely good prices on them occasionally. The last ones I saw on eBay went for about $400 I think. The grey burst is one of those "love it or hate it" looks. I think it's pretty cool myself.

Patch is about right. I got one for my daughter (born in 83) for a little less than that in good shape except for a gouge in the back of the neck, but then had to do a fret dress and setup, so I had about $450 into it to make it playable. They made a bunch of them, so they are hardly rare.

Thanks Again Guys!
I got this for less than 2 bills. So if nothing else, it'll look good on the wall.. Personally, I like the grey.. I have a Magnum that's the "barnwood " grey and I think it's stunning!
Although I've been a member since 03, I don't post too much.. But it's great to know that some of the "Old Guard" are still around!
Thanks Again!!

I don't see how you could go wrong at that price, unless it was delivered in two boxes. Post some pictures.

So.. The next question is... What case did this thing come with and does anyone happen to have one they'd like to peddle..

Cc, just get a shallow bowl case. I think they came with the old brown case because it was the first SSB. That's what mine came with anyway. The original case was too deep and mine slopped around in it. I got an almost new SSB case and sold the old brown case to a friend for $20 for his 1537. I have an extra SSB case that I'd like to get rid of if you want it. It has a repaired crack across the front, but is otherwise OK.

Hi, CC,
Mike S. from Ottawa, Canada here. We ordered/sold some of the first 83' Collectors in Canada at a music store I worked in at the time, and all 3, yes, not 1, not 2, but 3, (we sold 2, and the Ovation rep got the 3rd one), had a new, black molded deep-bowl case with blue lining., and blue padded inserts to prevent the guitar from flopping around in the case. The super-shallow molded cases came out after that, in 1984?, I think, but Al, and others can correct me on this, and most likely will. The asking price on the late Ovation reps' '83 Collectors, as offered to me by his widow, back in my hometown, of all places, last Christmas 2011, was $800.00 CDN, and I offered her $500.00 CDN. This particular guitar remains somewhat elusive from me, perhaps sold at an auction/fundraiser back home, but I don't think the chapter is closed on it just yet. I'll find out at Easter when I visit my Mom. Mom's know everything, even including where Ovation guitars could be now.
