Will the electronic module from my iDea work in a GC-28?

You will need the correct can.
If you GC-28 has an OP-20, you will need to change the can.
You would either need a True iDea can, or an OP-Pro can.
But if you have the iDea retro-fit kit, you should have that can.
If you have the whole iDea guitar you can take that can out and put it in the GC28.
It is not hard...
Undo the two toggle screws, unplug the plugs, then reverse the process.

But No, you cannot just drop the iDea unit into an OP-20 can.

And if the GC-28 has a OP4BT, forget everything I just typed...
if you have an OP4BT the answer is just "No".

Thank you Arthur! The GC 28 had the OP 20 can so I swapped out the cans and it works perfect! Now I just have to drill a tiny hole for the mic jack and swap that out and put a dummy jack in the hole on the bowl of the iDea... Any words of wisdom for drilling the hole for the jack? Or is it pretty straight forward?

First, do you actually USE the "aux" jack?

But drilling the hole is pretty straight-forward.

Just check the inside before drilling from the outside.

Make sure that you are far enough away from the top for all the connections and to have room to work in there.

And start with a small drill and get bigger. (or at least that is what I do)

Yes I do use that jack... The memory in the unit is so small I use that jack to plug my MP3 player into... that way I have 8 gigs of music to jam with. And my MP3 player has a clip on the back so I can just clip it to my guitar strap.
