Location: Vernon CT | I have been looking at a 1617 Legend tha i am considering. According to the Achives a 1617 is a Legend. but according to the below the 4th digit being a 7 s/b a Glen Campbell Artist Balladeer. Help straighten meou please.
Four-Digit Model Numbers

First digit is always 1
Second digit is type of guitar:
1 Acoustic roundbacks (also semi-hollowbody electrics)
2 Solidbody and semi-hollowbody electrics
3 Ultra acoustics
4 Solidbody
5 Acoustic electric cutaway Adamas and II/Elite/Ultra electric
6 Acoustic electric roundbacks
7 Deep
8 Shallow
Third digit denotes bowl depth on acoustic and acoustic electrics:
1 Standard bowl, 5 13/16" deep
2 Artist bowl, 5 1/8" deep
3 Elite/Matrix electric deep bowl
4 Matrix shallow bowl
5 Custom Balladeer, Legend, Legend 12, Custom Legend 12, Anniversary
6 Cutaway electric, deep bowl
7 Cutaway electric, shallow bowl
8 Adamas, 61/16" deep
Fourth digit denotes model, for first eight acoustic models:
1 Balladeer
2 Deluxe Balladeer
3 Classic
4 Josh White
5 12-String
6 Contemporary Folk Classic

Location: Boise, Idaho | You'll notice the list doesn't include Legends or your Custom Legend. It was a good system for awhile and then the model numbers sort of went haywire. |

He originally wanted $600 I really lowballed him and never heard back. He then put it up for $400 a couple weeks later and I offered $200 assumming it is in good shape. He accepted!!!
Is it worth it?? Does anyone have one??

| $200 for a 1617? Hell yes it's worth it. I had one, only sold it to get a 1619 (same thing but with lots of bling). Two words: tone monster.
Even with issues, it could be repaired by the Mothership & you'd still have a great git at a steal of a price.

My last git purchase was my 1612-1 for $150 w/case. I wouldn't sell it for $500 and Rachael Welch's belly button lint. OK, OK, at least not for $500...
As I learn more here and after playing my 'O's, I could kick my own azz for passing on imperfect 'O's in the past. My attitude has definitely shifted now that I know of the Mothership's abilities and CS.

As soon as I buy a guitar for $600, I see the same thing (with no issues and a case) go for $400.* :mad:

Location: Chehalis, Washington | Buy it twice! I bought one in horrible shape for about that, and for under $300 the mothership restored it to very nice condition with new bracing, frets, repaired ears, and electronics. VERY nice instruments, and well worth the price. |

Location: Vernon CT | Thanks for the advice guys. I spoke to the guy yesterday. As I am currently "sick", very bad sore throat and hardly any voice and he is a Chef at a new resturant in Hartford we are going to try and get together tommorrow (Friday)AM. He is a long time guitar player who "claims" to have too many guitars (Can't understand that LOL!!!) and is thinning out the herd. He said the only problem with the guitar is a 1" "Chip"
on the back of the neck about mid way. He swore it does not affect the playability of the guitar.
Yes Old Man it has the OHSC. I'll let you all know how I make out! |

Location: Detroit area | I bought my 1617 a couple of summers ago for (I think) $375 from Noel, OFC-er extraordinaire. It's a real beauty, and sounds better unplugged than my 05 Collector's, or the 1769 CL I used to have. |
