Location: VENISE-EN-QUEBEC CANADA | Well with planet waves trip-pod and Jim Dunlop string winder in hand I change my string on my Elite Ovation what a joy no pins to push, and the cut the string before you wind them realy work's it was my first time and thank's to an OFC member for posting the (taylor web site trick)cut them to lenght wind them and it's done real clean job to,the string I put on are Adamas 1818E I also have a set of D'addario EJ16 that I will put on next time, but I do like the clear sound of this Adamas set.I do have one question are 13/56 a lot harder to play compare to 12/53.
one thing I can tell you OFC member I do love the sound of my Ovation and the way it play's it is a joy to ear and also thank you for the many time you spent answering my question you have been a lot of help,can't wait to get my next Ovation

If your finger tips are 'hardened' there's not that much difference in playing. Just ensure a proper setup. You will probably discern more volume and brighter tones. That's assuming same string composition.
BTW, I'm in the process of moving from .012s to .013s. My Academy KA 17 got a set of .013s and they definitely project more than the .012s. |

Location: Vernon CT | I had bought a guitar abouta year after I first started playing that came with Med's (13/56).As I was "new" to Barre chrods at the time the heavier gauge strings were "Harder" as you put it to "fret" chords. I currently have Med Lights on 2 guitars and have no problem. Med light are basically Light ga on the 1st 3 strings and Med ga on strings 4,5&6.
I've also used that method of changing my string twice now and have found it "better" also. |

Location: Utah | I find 13's pretty tough to play. But my playing is not daily, more like 3 or 4 days off while at work and then 3 or 4 days of concentrated playing when I'm home. And about half of my playing is on an electric.
Also, 13's are harder to bend or apply a little English to, and barre chords can be brutal.
The light/med sets are a good compromise. |

Daniel ;) I am not seeing this thread (the Taylor web site trick). Can someone point it out as anything that makes changing strings easier is a very good thing. |
