B.B. King and his band put on a fun show last evening.

The venue was an old fashioned theater at the University. You could spot the guitar geek when I went down front and took pictures of his amp and guitar! The funny thing was that after I did that, people were lined up along both sides of the stage to get close enough to get a picture of the famous guitar.

The show opened with a band that played a conglomeration of blues, county, and rock. The lead singer and only guitarist was pretty darned good, and he played with no fear. At the end of the show B.B. King brought him back out and introduced him as Lukas Nelson, the 20 yr old son of Willie Nelson.

After the opening act, the B.B. King band came out and played one song by themselves before Mr. King made his entrance. He played for about 90 minutes. He talked with the audience quite a bit and really seemed to share a lot of himself with us. He was cheerful, funny, and humble. It was as much a show as it was a concert. There were plenty of jokes between the band members and Mr. King.

Despite being 83 yrs old he still seemed quite sharp mentally and nimble in his guitar playing. It's a show I would recommend seeing if you get a chance before it's too late.

Just curious, does he walk out and then sit down? I don't think I've seen the man standing in 15 years. I know he's had some health problems, so just wondering. He's one of a kind though. Nobody can play like BB.

Did he make his joke about thanking his three nurses? ;)

BB King suffers from Diabetes which has resulted in leg problems, and therefore realy can't stand for any length of time. I saw him a couple of years ago and he sat on a folding chair throughout the concert, but that did not dampen hisd spirit nor did he have any problems ripping off his signature licks. Ditto about seeing this legend if you can.

Thanks so much for the pic's and the headsup...if he comes anywhere near I would love to be there to see him live...he's one of my all time favorites and a true legend...
Bobbo is right about his condition...diabetes is absoultly ruthless...good to see him still getting it on regardless...

He did walk out on and off stage, but slowly. Two of his band members helped him to sit and to stand.

He didn't tell the joke about his three nurses. Lots of other jokes about young women, though.
