To many of us Judge by Apperance alone.
A VERY good lesson to all of us!

Amazing talent. How did she remain hidden for so many years?

Gave me goosebumps and not many singers can do that to me.
Took my breath away.

Wow. And isn't it sad that if she were an unattractive male who could sing as well, s(he) would already have a lucrative career. Yet there are so many "attractive" female vocalists who are stars, in spite of the fact that they can't sing.

So very sadly true. I just hope this lovely woman goes along way, she deserves it.

Another point that I found very poignant was the lyrics of the song in light of her introductory statements. This was not lost on the judges and audience.

I saw Les Miz twice, once in London and once in New York and it was an incredible experience. Just about every number gives me chills and the soundtrack is in heavy rotation. This singer in the video did a very nice job.

That video has spread like wild-fire. My cynical side says that it was lip-synced and that it's just a publicity stunt… My gullible side wants to believe it was real…

I hate to say this, but my cynical side is winning so far…

…stay tuned…

There was a bit of "VoiceMaster 2000" in the mix, but I'm sure they do that for all their contestants anyway. Why wouldn't you want to mix them well?

After I saw this I checked out the interviews on youtube. She did the song acapella in her kitchen. She's for real.

I saw that interview too Canterbury, She's for real like you say. I'm ready to head over to her corner pub where she sings and have a pint and listen to her, then on Sunday go to Church to hear her sing in her Choir.

Some of you might have seen this guy as well:

Interesting how great opera music has the power to stop people in their tracks even though the words are in another language.

Folks, after viewing Susan at least half a dozen more times and Joe a couple, I've got to say that if you were not moved by their performances, then you're not human! My goodness, their stories are one thing that captivates the press, but their performances captures the soul!!!!

May we appreciate the glory, preciousness and talents of those that we may overlook/ignore/avoid/shy from as we walk the path of life.

So inspiring...

BTW, Pebbles has to be one contented and entertained cat!

Could it make my voice presentable??

What I like about this vid is that it makes the judges look stupid (not difficult in some cases)

I didn't see this until last night. Amazing. And what a neat person she is. Makes light of her situation and is very humble. I was expecting Simon to give her that first kiss and make a marriage proposal the way his body language was.

In one of the interviews, Simon explained that it had been a long, bad day of auditions, which made her performance come as an even more pleasant surprise.
I once wasted an hour watching clips of the auditions for American Idol. I'd be grumpy, too, if I had to sit through so many terrible performances just to see one or two that were excellent like hers. But that is really what these shows are about.

That was fantastic. She has a marvelous voice, but what made it really great was the transformation in the audience and the judges at the 1st note, and two of the judges owning up to it. Among so much absolute dreck that makes you wonder why video and audio recording were ever invented this is a moment that makes you glad for the medium.

Yes, it is a great lesson, one that has to be repeated over and over again.

Unfortunately, a lot of people will quickly forget this lesson. I think that our society has become so focused on outward beauty and youth that sometimes we forget what is really important, and that is being a person of substance and influence.

I came across a clip of two people who brought forth a lot of beautiful music. The cynic in me believes that they would have been passed by in today's culture because they don't have the right look:

Cass Elliott and John Denver (playing a Guild not a Taylor)

BTW, bravo to Susan. She did a great job!

And to follow up Ms Boyle, here's a young guy who really came through as well. Well done, Shaheen .
