For some reason, though, my playing has gotten better. However, I must say that prior to taking the accounting class, I was getting pretty burned out from all the guitar practice. Now when I set down to play, I seem much calmer and more "into" what I'm playing. Of course, I think things would be much easier for me when I get an Ovation. :) Love the neck on the Ovations compared to my Walden. Michelle

I have found that if you play those chord progressions (D, Dmaj7, G, A7) slowly, they are almost dream like. My teacher told me that I have taken a big leap forward in my playing. Kind of feels nice when I can notice it too! I used to put so much pressure on myself, thinking about where I should be after taking lessons for 2 years. I keep comparing myself to others, but I'm trying to change that by thinking that everyone is different and progresses at a different rate. Michelle

(I have been playing fingerstyle from tabs for so long I don't know many of the chords I'm playing). I suddenly realized that I may not do well with lessons. The things I enjoy doing are things I've learned on my own and I've quit everything that I learned from lessons.

How to hold it, tune it, a few theory basics and off you go. Initially you'll learn by observation, imitation and assimilation. Later by experimentation. Been doing this for well over forty years, never "practiced" a moment, just played. Talent? Nah. Persistence.
