Hi gang,

I'm wondering if these Schaller buttons will fit the tuners on a 6778 Elite:

Has anyone replaced their stock Ovation buttons with a particular brand that is known to fit? Thanks for any advice.

If ya want some beautiful buttons, contact Paul Templeman . He'll help ya match up what ya need.

This Stewmac/Schaller comment cracks me up, " Another benefit of these knobs is they will reduce the weight of the neck of your instrument — important for instruments that have that "neck-heavy" feel ".

Right now I have Mini and full size in Ivoroid, Koa, Tortoiseshell, Ebony and Walnut. Full size only in Rosewood. Low on walnut minis.

The weight reduction is very noticible on a 12-string, not so much on a 6.

I'll take the full size Rosewood Paul. Send them to the Mountain House. They'll look good on the SJ cutaway I just got.

Very true Paul, as I found out when I replaced the originals on the 1688-5 at Amelia last year...big difference and great buttons!

Wonderful reference, thanks guys. Any comment on my initial Schaller question though?

Don't know if Ovation is still using Schaller or not. If so they'll fit.

As far as I know Schaller only on Adamas, all wooden top guitars get Ping. But Schaller and Ping have the same post size so no issue. Maybe some of the lower asian stuff even gets cheaper than Ping (if there is such a thing).

The StewMac buttons for Schaller do fit on the Pings, too. I bought a set of the pearloids from StewMac and put them on my 2000. I also bought a set of the ebony and put them on my Viper, which has Schallers. Of course, that was before Templeman started carrying his excellent buttons ... I have since replaced the pearloids on the 2000 with a set of Paul's grained ivoroids, which are orders of magnitude better. Also have some full-size walnuts on the Ding-O and some rosewoods on the Lakewood. While I would recommend get Templeman's, either way you won't go wrong.
