Just another sign of the economic times we live in . I have a frat brother here in Nashville who was laid off with 143 other this week. Might be the time to buy that new les paul.

That really hurts in this town. That's a bunch of struggling songwriters/musicians out of a day gig.

I was in GC at 100 Oaks yesterday and found myself in a room full of 5 to 9 grand factory built acoustics's. Who's buying this stuff, I don't know.

The best sounding guitar I played all day was in my own living room.

Is Gibson scaling back or moving the work elsewhere?

They laid off a bunch of their international sales force a coupla months ago, so this is no real surprise to the industry. In fact the rumours about Gibson's corporate health at Musikmesse were a lot worse. Thing is, Gibson's quality on their bread & butter stuff that the average consumer can afford is inconsistent at best and has been for years. Maybe if Hank got his priorites right and for just one thing stopped pursuing frivilous litigation they'd be in better shape. One of the only positive things about a recession is that the cream tends to rise. Sometimes those that go, deserve to.

I'm with Paul as well. A once proud name dripping with quality has strayed the path. But hey, what else is new?
